Abby Jo Hawkins is the owner of Mental Matters PLLC and provides counseling and mediations to clients through her practice.  Abby is also an adjunct instructor for Tarleton State University, teaching counseling. In 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Abby is on the listed resource magnets for incoming freshman, at Southern Methodist University. Abby holds a Bachelor of Science (B.s.) in Psychology and Master of Science (M.s.) in Clinical Mental Health. Abby is dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Abby is a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). When Abby graduated with her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she was selected as the Outstanding Graduate for the Department of Health Sciences and Human Services at her university.  Abby has history of working in psychiatric facilities with inpatient, outpatient, detox and crisis clients. Abby was on the crisis team for Denton County MHMR. Abby is a  Advisory Board Member for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Tarleton State University and was the Alumni Representative for Tarleton State University and Mentor for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Abby is an Instructor for Tarleton State University and Teaches Counseling, Diversity, and Inclusion, as well as Play Therapy, etc.  ​
