Abby Jo Hawkins LPC

Abby Jo Hawkins is the owner of Mental Matters PLLC and provides counseling and mediations to clients through her practice. Abby also is contracted with North Pointe Psychiatry in the Dallas area. Abby is on the Tarrant County and Dallas County Mediation teams for court ordered mediations. Abby is also an adjunct instructor for Tarleton State University, teaching counseling. In 2022 and 2023 Abby is on the listed resource magnets for incoming freshman, at Southern Methodist University.

Abby holds a Bachelor of Science (B.s.) in Psychology and Master of Science (M.s.) in Clinical Mental Health. Abby is dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Abby is a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CCATP) as well as a Certified Greif Counseling Specialist. When Abby graduated with her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she was selected as the Outstanding Graduate for the Department of Health Sciences and Human Services at her university. 

Abby has history of working in psychiatric facilities with inpatient, outpatient, detox and crisis clients. Abby was on the crisis team for Denton County MHMR. Abby is a  Advisory Board Member for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Tarleton State University and was the Alumni Representative for Tarleton State University and Mentor for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. 

Abby’s personal life involves spending time developing her faith more, in a Church where all people are viewed as deserving of honor and respect. Abby also spends time with her immediate family, drinking coffee and riding her horse.
